False advertising!

We thought we were seeing Dwight Yoakam as a headliner, that's how the event was advertised and is even listed here on the solicited review. But he was the opening act and was given the limited amount of time an opening act receives. Too bad, since that was what we had paid to see and was the worthwhile part of the event. The time he was on was great, outstanding musicianship from the entire band and a tight set performed. Loved it. A striking contrast to the advertised opening act/de facto headliner, Old Crow Medicine Show. We've seen them before and enjoyed them. But this show was pure shtick, OK musicianship playing second fiddle (so to speak) to a corn-pone "show" that would have fit well on Hee-Haw (that portion of the audience whooping along with them was probably too young to be aware of said show). They graciously and rightly referred to "the legendary Dwight Yoakam" in remarks about their preceding act. Nobody will ever use that term for OCMS. Five stars for Dwight, 2 for OCMS. Great venue, never disappoints.

WTHDwight???

As a seasoned adventurer- hunting down any concert within four hours highlighting Dwight , we ventured off to CMAC at Canandaigua New York for the event this past weekend. First off, we purchased the priority parking and it was the bomb, closer and easy to enter and exit. Definitely worth the extra funds. Our Seats were great and as we entered the arena and thought hey let’s grab a drink, Dwight started playing. Promptly at 8 o’clock?!… No opener? Well let me tell you, he started and played continually with amazing great hits for over an hour and a half, but when he left the stage, we figured he would be joining the second band for at least a few numbers so we sat patiently and weathered the old Crow medicine show act. It was a rather jumpy and bewildering high school musical kind of show and the crowd was hanging around wondering where is Dwight? So… Around 11 PM we decided to head out and I believe the show ended shortly after that. In all of my years, and I’m talking since the 80s…I’ve never encountered a lineup like this. The openers going last? The parking lot was full of tailgaters waiting for Him to start after the opener. I am still keeping an eye out for The comments and fall out of those who missed his half out of the show. Very strange

overall great show

Loved the opener (Rob Leines)! Great performance, sounded awesome. Unfortunately, the sound for Dwight was off. Not sure what they changed between acts, but it just over-driven, over-distorted, especially the vocals. At one point he was trying to talk about some SiriusXM thing & it was so blown out we couldn't understand a word he said. He was halfway through a cover of Ring of Fire before I even recognized the song it was so distorted. Really frustrating, especially since the opener sounded spot on. Dwight put on an awesome show! Would have been 5-star with better sound. I'd totally see Rob Leines as a headliner.
